Rocky Hill baseball scored seven runs in the fifth inning to pull away from Wethersfield, holding on for 9-4 victory last Monday.
Senior Dennis Machial pitched sixth solid innings for the Terriers, striking out six, before sophomore Tyler Carlstrom closed it out by throwing a hitless seventh inning to pick up the save. Carlstrom and Zach Mascaro each had two hits and drove in two runs from the plate, while Brendan Whalen also connected on two hits and scored two runs. The Terriers followed up the win with a shutout victory (17-0) over Hartford Public and stand at 4-4 entering the week. Wethersfield’s Aaron Guay had three hits and two runs, while Savier Paige added three hits and a run. Ethan Lemos added a pair of RBIs in defeat. Following the loss to Rocky Hill, the Eagles rebounded with wins over Bloomfield and Hartford Public to finish the week 5-3.
