Michael Hughes- Wethersfield (Lacrosse): Hughes, a junior midfielder who handles the face-off duties, won 60% of the draws as Wethersfield dominated time of possession during a 14-4 victory over Tolland, capturing the Central Connecticut (CCC) South championship on May 25. Junior attacker Wil Bankowski continues to pile up major numbers, scoring five goals and dishing out two helpers, and sophomore attacker Matthew Ruck added five goals in the conference-clinching victory.
Michael Anderson - Cromwell (Track & Field): Anderson won the 300 meter hurdles at the Shoreline Conference (SLC) championships on May 25. The junior ran a personal-best 41.51 to edge a pair of hurdlers from Coginchaug. The Panthers finished fourth overall as a team at the event held at Old Saybrook High School. Hailey Gaydos - Newington (Lacrosse): Gaydos scored her 100th goal as Newington won 7-5 at Tolland High School in the team’s regular season finale on May 25. The senior has been a consistent scoring threat for the Nor’easters, who wrapped up the regular season with a record of 12-4. Marina Perry - Rocky Hill (Track & Field): Perry swept the throwing competitions at the Central Connecticut Conference (CCC) North championship, achieving personal-bests in all three events. The senior won the javelin with a toss of 94-06, the shot put with a distance of 37-03.50, and the discus with a fling of 135-11 at Willow Brook Park in New Britain on May 24. Avah Bovell - Middletown (Track & Field): Bovell finished as the runner-up at both the shot put and the discus at the CCC South championship at Platt High School on May 24. The junior threw the shot put 28-10 and the discus 87-04 as the Blue Dragons tied for host Platt for fifth place overall.
